Curriculum
The dance curriculum at West Johnston High School is designed around the NC essential standards for 9-12 dance education. Strands include Creation and Performance, Dance Movement Skills, and Responding and Connecting. There are 5 dance courses in the West Johnston Dance Program. Due to the theoretical content in every course, all students must begin with the beginning dance course, no matter their current physical dance ability. All students in the school are eligible to participate in both Beginning and Intermediate dance classes and can repeat either of those courses. Proficient, Advanced, and Special Topics dance are for students with guidance and teacher recommendations and require advanced physical, and honors academic, ability.
