About WJHS Dance
The West Johnston High School Dance Program of Benson, NC was established in the Fall of 2002 with the opening of West Johnston High School. The West Johnston High School Dance Program offers students a quality dance education curriculum aligned with NC dance education standards.
Dance classes at West Johnston focus on physical, creative, theoretical and reflective practice incorporating the varied technical, cultural, historic and social attributes of the subject into each course.

Whether taking a dance course as a one time elective, or completing the full program, dance students at West Johnston are offered a range of experiences that encourage creative exploration and critical thinking. Dance classes have provided students with an outlet to express themselves, gain an understanding of their bodies and personal well-being, experience a sense of acceptance and success, and a developed appreciation of dance, as well as the fine arts as a unit.
